NEW IN THE NEWS

Have you noticed? Have you heard? The Luxembourg Golden Lady, or the “Gëlle Fra” has departed on an expat assignment !!!  She has been escorted on a controversial trip to a World Expo in Shanghai. 

It has been THE topic of conversation lately; but whether people agree or disagree with her trip, she has gone and apparently not alone as Denmark’s little mermaid statue has made the same trip.

The trip to China will no doubt educate a lot of people regarding the Gëlla Fra’s colourful history, from her creation in the 1920’s according to the station.lu press release. Either way we certainly support international transfer but eagerly await her gallant and safe return.

LUXEMBOURG CULTURE TIP

Statec has just announced the figures for the population diversity in Luxembourg City Center. According to newspaper Points 24 article in February 2010 the exact numbers are calculated at 91.857 residents for the capital city of the country! The interesting news to us is that it is also confirmed of that total 64% inhabitants are foreigners !!

Unfortunately it has also been reported officially that the Luxembourg unemployment numbers have reached the height of 15,000 people for the moment.

Charlene Fideler is originally from Southern California, but now resides in Luxembourg as the owner of Integreat S.A., an independent company specializing in relocation services for corporate and private clients, and those with international expatriate assignments. She is also a basketball player for the Luxembourg national league. Charlene will join us off the court to discuss aspects of relocation that are often overlooked, life in Luxembourg, and how Cultural consulting aids in the success of your business overseas.
